Miki Island Sponsors the Wellbeing at Work Asia Summit 2025!

Miki Island at the Wellbeing at Work World Summit Asia: Empowering Teams Through Wellbeing 🌿✨

We had an amazing time at this year’s Wellbeing at Work Summit Asia, where the theme was all about “Wellbeing as the Power Behind Performance.” It was such a great experience connecting with passionate leaders and sharing how Miki Island helps organizations build high-performing teams while putting employee wellbeing at the forefront.

Representing Miki Island at the summit were Leila Boutaleb-Brousse, our Certified Partner, Perlyn Tan, our Global Expansion and Partnership Lead, and of course, Oussama Labib, the Founder and Creator of Miki Island. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to talk about how our immersive simulations and team-building approach align perfectly with creating workplaces that nurture both performance and wellbeing.

Key Insights from the Summit: The Link Between Wellbeing and Performance

At the summit, one message was clear: Wellbeing drives performance. Gallup’s recent research revealed that only 23% of employees worldwide are truly thriving, which made the conversations even more important. Organizations are starting to realize that a focus on wellbeing isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential for creating workplaces where people are engaged, supported, and performing at their best.

It was great to see so many discussions around how businesses can create cultures of trust, psychological safety, and engagement, all while keeping performance at the core. It was inspiring to hear about different strategies organizations are using to make sure employees thrive both at work and in life.

Miki Island’s Contribution: Shaping High-Performing Teams with Wellbeing at the Core

At Miki Island, we believe that wellbeing is crucial for building high-performance teams. Our programs focus on helping teams enhance collaboration, trust, and resilience—key ingredients for a sustainable, high-performing workforce. We were excited to talk about how our immersive simulations help organizations create environments where employees can thrive, while also driving team performance.

We had some great conversations about resilience, human-centered leadership, and experiential learning, and we can’t wait to see more companies embracing these practices to improve their workplace culture.

Takeaways from Expert Speakers: Trust, Leadership, and High Performance

The summit featured some incredible speakers who shared powerful insights into the future of workplace wellbeing and performance. Here are some highlights:

  • Matthew Contuzzi (Head of People Experience, KPMG SG): He kicked things off with the reminder that everything starts with a conversation. It’s the simple act of having meaningful discussions with your team that helps build trust, engagement, and wellbeing.

  • Larissa Murmann (Digital Chief HR Officer, Unilever): Larissa discussed how job insecurity is creating mental stress and how organizations need to focus on nurturing high performance while supporting employee wellbeing. She also mentioned the importance of spreading vitamin A (appreciation) to boost confidence and motivation within teams.

  • Dr. Edwin Ho (Wellbeing at Work): Dr. Ho’s talk focused on the foundational role of trust in building a successful team. He shared a powerful trust equation: Trust = Credibility + Reliability + Intimacy / Self-Orientation. The key takeaway? Trust is the foundation of everything, and creating an open, supportive culture is essential for high-performing teams.

Gallup’s Wellbeing Model: A Holistic Approach to Engagement

Gallup’s research on wellbeing was a central theme, and they shared some valuable insights on how to improve employee engagement. They identified five key elements of wellbeing that directly impact performance:

  1. Social: Meaningful relationships at work.

  2. Financial: Managing personal finances well.

  3. Physical: Having the energy to get things done.

  4. Community: Feeling connected to where you live.

  5. Work/Contribution: Loving what you do every day.

Gallup also stressed the crucial role of managers in driving engagement. The #1 skill for managers? Having meaningful conversations with their teams. Leaders should focus on building trust, showing compassion, and creating a stable and hopeful environment for their teams to thrive.
