Fun, Engaging and Practical High Impact Offsite to unlock smarter ways of working and unleash your full team potential!

🔥 Why Expect the Unexpected™?

In unpredictable environments, even the best teams can freeze, fragment, or fall behind. Expect the Unexpected™ builds the clarity, adaptability, and decision-making skills teams need to move forward — together, even when everything shifts.

High Impact

This isn’t your typical offsite filled with slides and surface-level conversation. From the moment your team arrives, the tone shifts - focused engagement, productive tension, and real-time challenges that demand strategic thinking.

We kick off with Miki Island™, a high-energy simulation where teams are thrown into a fast-moving, unpredictable environment - just like the real world. It’s designed to pressure-test how your team thinks, decides, and adapts when the stakes are high.

No passengers. No downtime. Every move counts.

Then we debrief with sharp, action-oriented discussions: what decisions paid off, what slowed the team down, and what needs to change to perform better in the face of uncertainty.

⚙️Expected Outcomes

Expect the Unexpected™ equips your team with the mindset and muscle to thrive in complexity, by pressure-testing your strategy and response in a safe but demanding environment.

After this offsite, your team will walk away with:

✅ Sharpened decision-making under pressure
✅ Faster alignment on strategic priorities
✅ Improved execution with limited resources
✅ Greater clarity in roles, risks, and trade-offs
✅ Stronger team agility in volatile, shifting contexts

Because in a world of constant change, it's not the plan that wins - it's how your team adapts and executes when the unexpected hits.

🏝️ Powered by the Miki Island™ Simulation

Immersive team simulation designed to spark lasting improvements in focus and efficiency.

At the core of Expect the Unexpected™ is the Miki Island™ simulation - a fast-paced, immersive experience that replicates the volatility and unpredictability of a VUCA world.

Teams face sudden disruptions like volcano eruptions, resource losses, and shifting locations, forcing them to adapt quickly and rethink strategies on the fly.

Played over multiple rounds, the simulation allows teams to practice, iterate, and learn how to make better decisions under pressure.

Focused debriefs then translate these experiences into practical insights, helping teams build resilience and sharpen their ability to navigate uncertainty.

FAQ?

What sets Miki Island workshops apart from other team development programs?

Miki Island workshops distinguish themselves through immersive gameplay, research based methodology as well as data-driven insights from comprehensive team assessments. This allows to guarantee a focus on creating sustainable, high-performance team cultures that drive tangible business results.

How long is a typical Miki Island workshop?

A Miki Island workshop will last for 2,5h to 4h. Depending on the objectives set for your team, the program can then be enhanced to 2-day or 3-6 month team coaching journey. The more we can work with your team, the better the results!

Why can't we simply do a traditional team development program?

Of course, you can. However, our game-based learning approach in Miki Island workshops creates a psychologically safe environment where teams can practice the behaviors of Stage 4 teams effectively. This approach fosters active engagement, real-time problem-solving, and experiential learning, enabling teams to develop and internalize advanced teamwork skills in a dynamic and supportive setting.

What happens during a debrief session?

Debrief sessions allow teams to reflect on their performance and behaviours in the game, discuss how it relates to their every day life, and identify key takeaways for improvement.

Does that work even with senior executives?

Funny enough, we often see senior executives on the back-sit at the beginning of a Miki Island workshop. Now when the game starts, people (and c-suite) forget about their default leadership behaviours and engage fully in the experience.

This engagement and commitment guarantees and allows for great conversations and debriefs at the end, making it as effective for C-suite senior executives as it can be for more junior team members.

The key difference relies more on the depth of the conversations in the debrief and business application workshops than the game itself.

Are Miki Island workshops customizable for specific team goals?

Yes, Miki Island workshops can be tailored to address specific team challenges, goals, and industry contexts to maximize relevance and impact. The team assessment and diagnostic is a key element that allows for customization.

What's the maximum number of people?

We have had team offsites sessions with as many as 500 people (both virtually and face-to-face). We also work regularly with senior executive teams of 6-8 people. The results are consistent with highly engaged, challenged and impacted team members ready to build their High Performing Teams back at work!
